Questions You Should Ask When Considering Atlanta Georgia Health Insurance Providers

There are many things to consider when searching for an Atlanta Georgia health insurance provider.  It is especially tough knowing which Georgia health insurance provider to choose when you’re looking for individual health insurance plans.  Here are some tips to help you.

  1. What are the Georgia health insurance policies and programs available?  There are a variety of HMO and PPO plans offered by Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, Coventry and Kaiser Permanente.  Request information about the Georgia health insurance plans each provider offers so you can compare the different kinds of plans.

  2. What are my options?  Don’t just settle on the first Georgia health insurance provider you find in the phone book.  Request information from several Georgia health insurance providers like Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia.  Carefully review the information sent to you.

  3. How long have you been providing Georgia health insurance? Ask for references.  Do a little research to make sure the Georgia health insurance provider is legit.  The one thing you don’t want to do is end up in the hands of a Georgia health insurance scam artist.

  4. Will my premiums change?  Once you’ve found a couple of Atlanta health insurance providers you are interested in, request a quote.  Ask the insurance consultant about the stability of the premiums.  How often do they go up?  Will your Atlanta health insurance premium increase if you suddenly have a major health issue arise? Will your premium be guaranteed for at least a year?

  5. Can I continue to use my current healthcare provider?  If you currently have a physician, find out if the doctor or hospital is part of the Atlanta health insurance provider’s network.  If not, you’ll have to decide if you are willing to see another doctor.  Also, if your physician is part of the network, check with your physician to make sure he or she will continue to be a part of the provider’s network.

  6. How big is your Atlanta health insurance provider’s network?  Find out how extensive the Atlanta health insurance provider’s network of doctors is.  Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia has one of the largest networks.  Are specialists included in the network?  Are there many doctors close to your home or office?
